2025 COLA Update: How the New Projections Will Impact Your VA and Social Security Benefits

"In 2022, COLA increased by 5.9%, in 2023 it was 8.7%, and in 2024 it was 3.2%. But what is it going to be in 2025? Well, the projections are in, and I'll explain how it may affect your wallet."

"Now, last month it was estimated by the Senior Citizens League that COLA would be right around 2.57%. This month, the projection has increased slightly to 2.65%."

Impact on VA Disability Benefits

"So what does this mean in dollars and cents? As you can see, for a single veteran receiving VA disability, this would approximate to an increase that ranges from $453 at 10% disability to $99 at 100% disability. If you are a veteran with dependents added on your VA disability, then your amount of compensation will be more depending on your unique situation."

Impact on Social Security Benefits

"With regard to Social Security, if the current projection stands, it would raise the average monthly benefit from $1,918 to $1,968, which equates to a $50 a month increase."
